I have always surrounded myself with flowers, to me they are eye candy and one of nature's most exquisite pleasures. A fond memory is working as a florist in Carmel Valley, Calif making arrangements for Bernardus Lodge. I fell madly in love with garden roses, working at a rose farm with over 500 rose bushes to pick for our bouquets.

Naturally, I adore painting flowers as I can enjoy them year-round without them ever dying. My favorite part of painting flowers is finger painting the petals onto canvas. It's a merry dance of color, composing them joyfully, free in the air. Dreamy and ethereal in feeling, making the viewer want to literally be inside the painting, to be whisked away in a daydreamy world.

My paintings lure you in, making you feel serene and peaceful, romantic and alive. There are many layers that create a rich texture like an old book, or worn shoes, all the better for its well-loved character. A celebration of life, the confidence of femininity and the fountain of rebirth, these paintings enchant not only the eye but your soul. 

I received a Bachelor of Arts from UCSC in 1995 in Painting and Women's Studies. My process evolved from many years of classes, finally discovering acrylics with Robert Burridge as my mentor. I saw excitement and fun in his approach and implement his techniques in my current painting practice. I teach classes online to a small group of dedicated students called the Monday Funday group. I paint in my studio in Santa Cruz, Calif and my barn in Flagstaff, Arizona. My work is always focused on emotion, wanting to uplift and inspire the viewer. I love the messiness of acrylics, using only water as the medium, flinging paint every which way to find interesting marks.

I have been fortunate to have art residences at Chateau Orquevaux-2019 and NG Art Creative Residency-2022 both in France. To paint in France where all my favorite artists have painted is my greatest joy.
